Prism launches new technology to eliminate Horse ID errors

Today Prism announced the launch a new microchip scanner aimed at eliminating human error in the identification of bloodstock and the application of treatments, horse movements and other services.

With Prism’s new microchip scanners, users can scan a horse and have its full history (including treatments and movements) instantly populated on their own device, ensuring 100% correct identification.

From there, Prism users can:

  • Check In / Check Out the correct horses into the stable or farm, including the allocation of barn, box or paddock
  • Ensure correct horses are being loaded/unloaded on any transport service
  • Safeguard against treatments and procedures being administered to the wrong horse
  • Allocate any costs (vet, farrier, dentist etc.) against each horse, which are then immediately captured in the users accounting software
  • Record daily training performance and key conditioning indicators such as temperature, weight, trot-up and feed information
  • Send easy updates to internal staff or owners using the Prism portal

“We are really excited by this new innovation as it’s the first time those in the industry can utilise the microchip not only for identification, but also to ensure the right horses are getting on the truck, going into stables and being treated,” said Prism Managing Director, Allan Bennetto.

“The wrong identification of a horse can have a huge impact on a stable or farm, regardless of size. The industry now has so many horses that are being moved around and treated, often by third parties, that this technology is a must for anyone serious about reducing their risk and improving the efficiencies of their operation.”
